How do I contact a rescue about adopting a pet?
To get in touch with a rescue, you’ll need to create a Pet Database account. This allows you to message rescues directly and manage your adoption journey in one place.
Creating an account also helps you stay organised as you search. You can save pets you’re interested in, receive alerts when new pets match your preferences, and easily reconnect with rescues you’ve contacted.
Once your account is set up, you can message a rescue through the pet’s profile to express your interest. Each rescue manages their own adoption process, so they may ask you to complete an application form or provide supporting documents, such as proof of address or information about your home and experience with pets.
Having your account ready also means that if you go on to adopt, you’ll be able to quickly register your pet’s microchip with us, a UK DEFRA-compliant database.
Creating an account is the first step to starting your adoption journey and connecting with rescues.
