How to update my pet’s microchip number

Edited

If your pet’s microchip number changes - for example, after being re-implanted or if the original number was entered incorrectly - it’s important to make sure your Pet Database record is accurate.

If the number was typed incorrectly

Please contact our support team so we can correct the number for you.
We’ll need:

  • The pet’s name

  • The incorrect chip number currently on the record

  • The correct chip number

  • Proof of the correct number (e.g., vet or implanter documentation)

If your pet has been re-chipped

You can add your pet as a new record using the new microchip number.
Once that’s done, contact us so we can remove the outdated microchip details from our system.

Why we don’t allow direct changes

Microchip numbers are a key part of a pet’s legal identity and reunification process.
To protect against errors and fraud, they can’t be changed directly in your account without verification.

💡 Tip: Always double-check the number when first entering it - even a single digit wrong can stop your pet from being found if they go missing.
